“What are we Waiting For?”
Overall Theme
The overall theme is quiet reflection and prayer in anticipation of the coming Christ. The title of the series is “What are we Waiting For?” Each week will include a lighting of the week’s Advent candle, a time of quiet prayer, and the opportunity to write a private prayer/ reflection. The prayer will then be folded and placed in a bowl positioned by the Advent wreath. It is a type of symbolic offering.
Paper and pens will be provided
Actions
Consider making an Advent wreath this year for your own home. It is a way to tangibly experience this time of waiting. Week by week as a new candle is added, the glow of the candles becomes stronger. The time of waiting ends with the celebration of the arrival of Christ on Christmas Day.

As part of our life in the church, the season of Advent is traditionally set aside as a time for reflection and prayer as we await the coming of Christ. Join us on Wednesday nights in December as we take time to breathe, to pray, to reflect and to gather. The time of prayer and reflection will be followed by a simple supper of soup and bread.
