Stations of the Cross and Evenings in Lent
CANCELLED
CANCELLED
Online worship will take the following shape every Sunday at 10am: No choir (there may be solos or other offerings). The celebrant will be alone at the Altar. All servers will maintain a six foot distance. We will not have milestone prayers except a general prayer. We are going to see many of the same faces on the server team throughout this period. We do this with direction from the diocese to limit exposure. There will be no procession in or out. No one over 65 will serve in Sunday worship. Finally, there will be no bread or wine present for the duration.
That’s a long hard list but we are still gonna have fun together while worshipping in our PJs!
Zooming in Lent
We will be working to create spaces for fellowship in non-traditional ways. Over the next couple of weeks, we would like you to join “Zoom” and try some test conversations. Zoom is a technological hurdle that we would like to help you overcome. We might be stuck in our homes, but we aren’t disconnected from each other. With those skills, connecting on fellowship, formation and pastoral care is possible.
For live, one-on-one pastoral care:
email clergy for a time and we can setup a video or just make a phone call. Todd: [email protected] or Susan:
[email protected]
Structured prayer and worship at 10am
Tues-Thur
Different types of prayer and worship on instagram live or facebook live (available on both platforms, plus website after the event)
High school check-in
Tuesday time TBD (we will know more when the online curriculum comes out)
Junior high check-in
Wednesday TBD (we will know more when the online curriculum comes out)
Young peoples time
Thurday TBD (we will know more when the online curriculum comes out)
For good boundaries, not everyone will get the link, but families will get a separate invite. If you want to be included email [email protected] with young person’s name and age.
Palm Sunday Apr 5 @ 10am - Online only
Holy Week, home liturgies and online
Todd and Susan were part of a large forum sponsored by Virginia Theological Seminary to talk about Holy Week while sheltering in place. A lot more information is to come, but wanted to quickly share with you he basics: 1. We are creating home-based resources for you to celebrate Holy Week with your family or by yourself (we will be sending video worship). 2. We are developing tools for you create sacred space in your home.
Snail mail and PDFs online for home liturgy are coming. These resources will be self-contained, meaning you don’t need a computer to use them. If you’re slightly more tech inclined, we will also be supplementing homebased liturgies with video worship.
Easter Sunday, April 12th, online
Easter Sunday will be virtual; however, the bishop has assured us that we will celebrate Easter in style. We will worship in our local churches as one big family — when it’s all clear for corporate worship.
