kids-lighting-candles Acolytes
Acolytes serve as torchbearers and crucifers during Sunday worship services and other liturgical celebrations. All youth fourth grade and above are welcome. Training is scheduled at various times throughout the year.

Confirmation classes are offered according to need. The program is open to adults and youth who are “ready to express a mature commitment to Christ.”

God Squad
God Squad is a group of middle- and high-school youth from Episcopal churches in Contra Costa County. We get together for combined Youth Group activities and one-day service projects around the Bay Area.

Middle-School Immersion Trip
The annual immersion trip was for youth joining grades 7-9 during June 2018 for community service, program, and fun. Photos for the event are here.  Contact: Pastor Todd at for information on future events.

High-School Immersion Trip
The annual mission trip is open to all high school youth and includes kids and adult chaperones from several Episcopal churches in the Diocese of California. We travel, work, and play together for 10 days during the summer. Photos for the event are here.  Contact: Pastor Todd at for information on future events.

The Episcopal Youth Event (EYE)
The national Episcopal Youth Event (EYE) takes place every three years. The next EYE will take place in Summer 2020 and is for youth in grades 9-12 and their adult leaders.

Lay Eucharistic Ministers
Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs) serve communion at worship services, and all high school youth with an interest are welcome. Training is required and occurs throughout the diocese several times a year.

Lectors, also known as readers, read the Scripture lessons or the Prayers of the People during worship. A young person reads a lesson each Sunday during our 9:00 a.m. service.

Outreach programs are available for youth participation including Adopt-a-Family (Contact Sally Potts) and Warm-Winter Nights (Contact Joann Oliver).

Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Youth in fifth grade and above can serve as VBS Counselors or Counselors-In-Training during camp week to help with stories, crafts, music, and games. In 2017, we are moving to a volunteer-led team approach to VBS, so Counselors or Counselors-in-Training will be especially important. See a member of the clergy to get involved in this amazing ministry.
