Social Justice Ministry
Mission Statement
To provide a safe forum in our parish community for Christ-like discussion and sharing of information to educate ourselves on social issues and any injustices in our community; and to be allies in the eradication of social injustice.
What we mean by Social Justice
Social Justice means economic justice, access to resources, equity, citizens’ participation, environmental and equal justice in our immediate society and in the world at large. To many, there is a clear connection between social justice and human rights.
Christian Tradition has emphasized the intrinsic worth of the individual and that their basic needs and participation in society are assured.
At St. Timothy, we are active in serving others through our Outreach programs. In short, our approach is to follow the teachings of Christ and to always ask the question whenever we are confronted with social challenges: ‘What will Jesus do?’. We are also aligned with the Beloved Community vision of the Diocese of California. We are active on issues and solutions through participation in calls for opportunities and how our society can better itself by assisting those less fortunate.
We hope to keep you updated on actions, events, workshops and news about our activities. If you are interested in this ministry, we are looking for new members and you are welcome to join us. You can also drop in to observe, hear and experience our discussions, plans and actions. All are welcome.
