What is Rise Against Hunger?
Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief agency that has been working to end hunger since 1998. Their mission is to provide food and aid to people in need around the world and respond to disasters. One of the ways that RAH works to achieve its mission is by working with volunteers to stage meal packaging events. What is the Meal Packaging Event? Volunteer Opportunity The Meal Packaging Program is an assembly-line process where volunteers combine rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring/vitamin mix into small meal packets. The food stores easily, has a shelf-life of two years and transports quickly. Rise Against Hunger works with international partners to distribute the meals. |

We need donations to purchase the supplies and volunteers to package the food. Volunteers of all ages, including families with children, can participate. Children under 13 need to work with an adult. Each volunteer can package 200 meals in 2 hours. At 38 cents per meal, the cost for each volunteer is approximately $75. We encourage everyone to participate and donate what you can towards the cost of the meal supplies. Donation towards supplies is appreciated but not required to participate.
